Water Cutting

Water cutting at W. Olsen takes place on a 3 axis water cutter from Belotti, which is built with a bridge construction which gives the water the freedom to simultaneously move in 3 axes. The water cutter can cut in all usual materials up to a thickness of 250 mm, and has a working area of 2000 x 4000mm, which allows for optimal utilization of material, which is the maximum impact in the vertical.

This is because several (different) items can be programmed to be cut out of the same plate, thereby minimizing the excess material between the individual items.

Depending on the material, there are different specifications for how thick the material can be, which is expressed in the following table.

Materiale Max. tykkelse Max. Plade format
Aluminium 200 mm max. 4000 x 2000 mm
Stainless steel 200 mm max. 4000 x 2000 mm
Iron 200 mm max. 4000 x 2000 mm
Glass 200 mm max. 4000 x 2000 mm
Plastic 230 mm max. 4000 x 2000 mm
Stone 200 mm max. 4000 x 2000 mm
Rubber 230 mm max. 4000 x 2000 mm
Foam 230 mm max. 4000 x 2000 mm

The interface that the water jet leaves behind is so fine that in most cases you do not need to finish the work. Depending on the customer’s desire, we can change the fineness of the cut surface, among other things by varying the speed with which the water jet moves.

Furthermore, it is also an option to select several different cut surfaces finenesses, such as coarse cut surfaces on free edges and fine cut surfaces on inner sides.

Depending on the material to be cut, mainly water is used as a cutting agent, in which sand / granulate is added in an appropriate amount. The addition of sand / granules means that, as mentioned above, we can cut hard and soft materials, ranging from plastic to steel.
